Our new kiwi friend, Lisa, shared that New Zealand is known for four seasons in one day.
Yup, that happened today as we had some hail in the morning, some rain in the afternoon, and sunshine throughout the day.
Lisa was kind to offer to take us on an outing to Lake Ferry. It was cold at the lake. The wind was whipping at us and made it difficult to truly enjoy this beautiful space. The cliffs were amazing and the lake was brown because the ocean was crashing into the lake area. Brrr!
We went to The Land Girl for some hot drinks to warm up.
Though Sage Cottage has a dryer, it feels great to be doing our part to conserve energy. When I was growing up in Chinatown, I remember mom putting out laundry out on the line. Victor and I use the dryer, but we also use a drying rack. That's a good thing.
Beautiful blooms at Sage Cottage.
I asked Lisa to teach me how to use the fireplace. Though I've built many a camp fires, I was worried that I'd fill Sage Cottage with soot. Lisa assured me that it wouldn't happen with this kind of fireplace. The fireplace works very well and warms up the space nice and toasty. Mom bought a puzzle at the thrift store and I couldn't stop laughing at how mom was trying to forces pieces together. Mom, that's not how puzzles work. Doing puzzles is a good thing..wind down..relax.
Yesterday in Masterton...
We ate at Planet Sushi, a Japanese spot run by Filipino kiwis. The fried shrimp was delicious!
We also had our hot drinks at McDonald's and used the restroom of course.
Mom's been saying: We need to stop buying things. And I respond with: You need to stop buying things.
Mom enjoys shopping. She bought herself a new raincoat at Paper Plus. Mom loves it. I like the bright coral color and big flowers on it! Also, thrifted a suitcase for $4 NZD to give ourselves some extra room just in case we had more things to bring home. I don't buy much, but just in case.
We did a grocery run too! The price of garlic was shocking.
This is a really great idea.
Today I am grateful for all the educators at Sunset, SFUSD, our country and in the world. I've been hearing from the people here that teaching is a huge job. Teachers everywhere have a lot on their plates. Thank you, educators, for touching our youth in so many ways.
You're an educator! Thank you! I really like mom's raincoat. Why is garlic so expensive??? Does it not grow in NZ? By the way, you should have mixed the edge pieces in with all the other ones for more of a challenge :P
ReplyDeleteJust working on the edge pieces is enough challenge for me. I'm still not done with the edges yet! I'm not sure why garlic is so expensive. It's not in season now? IDK...
