Mom is adjusted to her New Zealand home. She loves sitting under the sunlight and getting her dose of
"I Love Lucy."
I finally got her to go outside to "practice" riding the bike. Martinborough is a very bikable little town and biking is a great way to get around. I'm not really a pro at teaching others how to bike, but I did my best. Besides, today was supposed to be a refresher. Mom at one point knew how to ride a bike- the last time was 30 years ago in Tahoe!
Mom: "There's a lot going on. My shoulders hurt, I'm scared. Get an ambulance.
My reflux came back...I want to go home."
I'm so mean to be laughing.
It's important to have grit and at the same time do OR don't do what you want. Mom doesn't want to ride the bike and I have to respect that. We put the bikes back and walked into town.
We visited the Martinborough town library and the visitor information center in the same building. I picked up a lot of travel brochures to help me plan the road trip that
we'll be taking it when Corinne arrives on September 8.
Looking forward to her arrival a week from today!
Since mom isn't keen on riding a bike, we stopped at the bike store to figure out how mom and join the bike ride without actually riding a bike. We found the solution! An electric bike with a pull cart!
We bought some groceries and stopped into this Fish and Chips spot- Ahoy to pick up
some fish for dinner. The interesting thing to me about this place was that they sold items by the piece instead of full orders. They did have meal combos though.
- one piece of fish
- one onion ring
-one prawn
Bright and cherry field of daffodils!
Instead of biking home, we walked home. Definitely put in a ton of steps every day. Just walking the driveway takes a few minutes! It's a good thing cause we're not in a rush to go anywhere...if we plan well.
And that, my friends, is the end of our day out.
The videos are hilarious! Poor mom. So stressed. It was a pretty flat road, too. No "grateful fors" today??
ReplyDeleteThe bike videos!!! I can't stop watching them! Showed Dad just now and he got a chuckle, too.
