left/right turn signal, not window wipers!

Corinne has arrived in New Zealand! Hooray!
We rented a car and off on our road trip in North Island we go!

Corinne and Mom are super happy to see each other!

Took the Wellington Cable Car up to see a wonderful view of Wellington.

I got the Costco plaid jacket special so that we could be matchy matchy on this trip together! These jackets are Rowena's go to for warmth. Row, they are so warm!

View from up top.

Art at the cable car station.

On the road and heading to Palmerston North.  Driving on the left side of the road takes some getting used to. Super helpful to have Corinne as the navigator. I kept repeating: "drive on the left." At every turn, "drive on the left." I'd turn on my left or right turn signal and the window wipers kept coming on. Taking it slow. Using the left lane so others can pass me on the right. Keep calm.

Some scenes along our drive.

At some point, there were a group of police officers stopping all the cars going through a town (I forgot the name). He checked the car's registration and asked me to count to 5 for a breathalyzer test. I passed!

We arrived in Palmerston North, talked to the i-Site folx and checked into our lodging. With a recommendation to an excellent restaurant, we tried to walk in to eat at Haru Japanese Restaurant. Next table was available at 8:15.  Yikes...too late. We chose Thai Express instead. Delicious!

Great to be together, eat together, and laugh together.

Goodnight!

  1. YAY! So happy to see you all together. I'm very curious about driving situation and would be scared to accidentally turn into side of the road coming the opposite direction. Have a great road trip!
