Sydney

September 18-19, 2022

Bye, bye Martinborough! We've loved staying in Sage Cottage. Welcome Madison and Maya!
Thank you, Lisa, for EVERYTHING!

We overnighted in Wellington because we needed to be at the airport at 5AM.
We got to see the Weta Workshop where Peter Jackson's team creates the digital special effects and creatures for movies/films, etc.  Seems a bit underwhelming after going to Hobbiton in Matamata.

Our view from the AirBnB in Wellington!

We said goodby to Corinne as she flew back to SoCal and mom and I arrived in Sydney.
Mom was questioned whether she had a needle in her bag. We took the train to our AirBnB.

Stopped at Blaq Pig Cafe for a few hours while we waited to check into our AirBnB. Spoke with the Korean staff about K dramas. Their recommendation: Extraordinary Attorney Woo on Netflix!

Uber over train/public transit will be what we do when we leave. Even though we like to explore and use public transit, the bags are too heavy, to walk around with.

Took a bus ride to dinner at RaRa Ramen in Redfern. It's always nice to explore new places by bus. The interesting thing for me at this spot is that I not only ordered by QR code, but paid that way too. So, the wait people didn't take our orders or payment. They brought us water, our meal, and cleaned up after us. It looks like there's tipping in Australia in restaurants whereas in New Zealand, there wasn't tipping.

Excited to explore Sydney!

  1. Looked like so much fun while Corinne joined you in New Zealand! Funny photo of her and gollum. Can't wait to see what Australia has in store for you!
