Creativity Improves Your Health

 October 12, 2022

Yup, creativity improves your health and is good for the brain. That's why as a school leader, I try to provide many creative outlets for students. Whether it be with visual arts, dance, music, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) projects, all students need a creative outlet. Some/many say "I'm not an artist." Well, you don't need to call yourself an artist or see yourself as an artist. Do know that creativity is fun, freeing, and fabulous! Let go of perfection and good...and embrace the experience!

Read about it more in this Forbes article from 2018 or for more on schools and creativity, watch one of the most viewed Ted Talks- Sir Ken Robinson's: Do Schools Kill Creativity?

The Forbes article mentions that creativity:

  • increases happiness
  • reduces dementia
  • improves mental health
  • boosts your immune system
  • makes you smarter
I pursue all of the above. Got a good dose of dopamine when I made these for the October birthdays. Followed this video and made these cards for the October birthdays in our family.

Had a lot of fun making these cards for dad, Rowena, Uncle Henry, Angela, and Elliot!
