Traveled to Indio/Palm Springs, CA
December 28, 2022
Went traveling with the family to Indio area with a total of 19 people. 17 of us stayed in an AirBnB and 2 stayed at the local Holiday Inn Express. It takes a lot to coordinate a trip with so many people. What does a trip with so many people entail? Patience, collaboration, teamwork, and lots of understanding.
What makes it work:
- families taking turn to cook each day's dinner.
- giving people a loose idea of timeline and activities
- being flexible with activities and splitting into groups depending on interest; providing options
These are the elders on our trip: mom, dad, Auntie Regina (from LA). Mom gives dad a massage every day. She uses Tiger Balm to rub dad's temple and massages the balm into his scalp. She also uses a massage gun to massage his feet. Dad enjoys his daily massages mom provides. My paternal grandma lived to 103 and she was receiving massages twice a week from a masseuse. Mom attributes her long life to these massages. I wouldn't mind getting a massage once or twice a week. Ahh, massages are healing.
1,000 pieces puzzle is a fun group project. What makes it challenging is to NOT look at the picture at all as a reference. Pretty impressed that they completed the puzzle in about four hours! Working in a team is a good thing. You get a lot done. You can do things quicker. It's fun.
Went to the Walk of Stars in Palm Springs....haha, there were so many people on the walk that I didn't know. Many were local community members, humanitarians. I recognized stars like:
Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, Ginger Rogers, Adam West, Marilyn Monroe, Lena Horne, Victoria Principal, and Beverly Johnson. It was fun finding people I know.
Cool art exhibits throughout Palm Springs.
Kevin, Rowena, and I used to watch a ton of Marilyn Monroe movies.
I think a favorite was Some Like It Hot.
Stopped for some gelato.
Reminded me of gelato in Sydney, Australia!
Big palm trees all over Palm Springs!
