After a slow and easy morning, we ventured out to Moorten Botanical Garden. It's a privately owned garden that has up to 3,000 variety of plants. Admission was a nominal $5/person so the price was right!
We started off with lunch at a picnic table. Henry had gone out to get sandwiches at TKB in Indio. Dad and I shared Sexy Italian that had salami and ham. It was a big sandwich and sharing is the best. It was hilarious watching Auntie Regina eat her sandwich. She said she wasn't used to eating like this. Her sandwich was falling apart and she had to use her hands to eat it.
She was smiling and laughing the entire time she was eating. It was cute.
There was a tortoise
Walking on the lawn was the wheelchair access route. Otherwise, we would have had to take stairs. I felt naughty walking on the lawn. LOLThe mountains in this area are massive, dry, dark. It's part of the desert landscape and I can't say that I like it too much. I prefer forests and an ocean view.
Look at the cost of these cacti! Wow!
This botanical garden is a perfect spot for those with mobility challenges. The garden is big enough for you to take a stroll or you can visit in your wheelchair. But for me and my cousin, we would've loved to walk a few thousand more steps. Thus is life in traveling with our senior parents. It's okay, just gotta find other ways of getting steps in!
We wanted to find more spots to visit and decided on Tahquitz Canyon. It's part of an Indian Reservation where people can explore trails, plants, waterfalls. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived, the area was closing.
