Rest is good

We slept in today and oh was it needed. Last night mom said she was feeling really tired. I was a bit worried that she might have Covid symptoms. So I told her to sleep and she really slept in. Mom was super sound asleep because she was snoring. We've been on the go for three full days, so getting rest is definitely needed.

We took the ding ding tram to North Point to see the Chinese doctor. On the way there, mom saw the sugar cane stand and got a bottle. The sugar cane juice is so yummy- sweet and refreshing. Mom loves that stuff! I think it brings back memories for her too!

We arrived at the Chinese doctor's office which is in the same building as Shing's Kitchen. All the Lunar New Year decorations are being removed. So sad. That display was beautiful.

Here's mom at the Chinese doctor's office. She's able to use her elder health care voucher. The doctor diagnosed her with anxiety. (Wow, this is news- not). He gave her a Chinese medicine prescription which she said is extremely bitter and bad tasting.

After the doctor's appointment, we had dim sum with Auntie Loretta and Shing. The "volunteer" joined us for lunch too. Goodness, Volunteer's name is Candy. She volunteers at Shing's Kitchen 7 days a week and helps prepare food in the kitchen. Candy talks fast, speaks English very well, is hilarious, and is so nice. Candy invited us to the Jockey Club.

Shing is a very good cook. He's a good man. He takes care of his staff. He has a great staff and they do a good job. Shing's been trying to hire more staff, but it is very difficult to hire people. Guess this is happening all over the world.

At the Jockey Club, we had a beet latte, fried bananas with vanilla ice cream and waffles. I only wanted the latte because I was stuffed from lunch, but Candy said: everyone share! The beet latte was so yummy! I'd love to learn how to make it!

The Jockey Club is an exclusive club where only 40 people are allowed to join per year. Only the trustees are able to invite one person in a year and you have to pay an initial fee of $150,000 and then a monthly fee thereafter. In addition to the monthly fee, one must pay for the additional services of using the gym, tennis courts, etc. The place is gorgeous and they recently built a new building.

Twinsies! Mom and Luca

Took a nap back at the house before heading
to the HK airport for a red eye flight to Narita airport in Tokyo.

  1. Luca is so cute!!

Can't believe Shing brother is still cooking. He has always been so nice. I really crave the mango sago dessert he makes. Hopefully we can eat that next time we go back 🤤
