Walking a lot

This is what happens when you are jet-lagged. You get up at 4 AM and start rearranging your luggage.

These are some of the steps off Siu Fai Terrace that we take down into the shopping/restaurant areas.
This is our route every day.

We came to this stand yesterday and bought three pairs of pretty slippers!
Can't wait until Auntie Regina gets them!

I love walking by all the markets and checking out all the food!
It is amazing that we have such different food handling standards. Must be okay here since they've been doing it for ages.

Just a cool, colorful side of a building

Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme- elders in Hong Kong receive funds to take care of their health. Mom has a resident of Hong Kong card and qualifies for these health care funds. So she went to get a pair of glasses. The office squeezed her in for a drop-in appointment. The doctor and assistant were super kind. . You can tell they work with elders a lot. Mom previously had made two pairs of glasses on her last trip. This time, the scheme allows only $2,000 HKD for eye care. So mom ended up paying a bit extra because she wanted glasses that transitioned into sunglasses. I think that's a good decision to pay extra for what you want and need. We'll come back to pick up the glasses after our trip to Japan.

Stopped into Bakehouse for a Portuguese tart. This place is the hot new spot and was recommended to us. I enjoyed the tart. To be honest, I didn't think it was all that. Maybe I don't have a refined palette?

We had lunch at Gong Jai Kee- won ton mein and beef ho fun.
I liked that we didn't have to rush and could enjoy our meal slowly. Meals are so reasonable: $78 HKD for both items. $9.75 USD total. No tax. No tip. Good deal.

Checking out the goods that we are going to buy before we head back to the US. Mom's talking to the staff person about the bean curd.

We took the MTR to the newly opened M+ museum to see Yayoi Kasuma's exhibit. Since it was a weekday, the space wasn't too crowded.

Loved the immersive mirror experience. A little dizzying, but fun!

All the dots that Kusuma painted/drew....so many, so much time.

I made this oil pastel card at home before I left on this trip. It's inspired by Kusama's work. It's pretty meditative making art like this. I think that's what helped Kusuma with her mental illness and hallucinations.

I liked how mom's purple beret matched this wall!

On the rooftop garden looking over at Hong Kong Island.

We ate dinner at Shing's Kitchen with Auntie Loretta and some of her friends. Auntie Loretta looks so hip in her blue vest and beret. The three of them just got a haircut at a teaching salon. Dinner was scrumptious and too much. We ended up taking a lot of food home to share with Emily, Matteo, and Claire.

Lots of steps in and so tired from the day. I appreciate the pace and not rushing around.
